We provide 2 kinds of Japanese traditional clothing: the samue and yukata. Samue is a traditional clothing originally worn by Buddhist monk in Japan. This clothing is worn when they performing labor activities such as cleaning the temple or field work. Samue become popular as casual clothes these days because samue is easy to put in and comfortable (usually made from linen or cotton).
Yukata is more popular in Western community compared to samue. Yukata usage has longer history compared to samue. This traditional clothing is usually worn during summer festivals in Japan. Yukata originally worn as a bathrobe, but it`s become popular as a summer garment. When you put on the yukata, be sure to put the right side inside and wrap the left side over the right and then wrap the sash around your waist. Do not put your right side above the left, because Japanese dress their deceased family this way.
You can either wear samue or yukata during your stay in our hotel. You can also purchase both yukata and samue in our gift shop.
